Best of the Week – 4212

Here we go with with this weeks edition of Best of the Week.

Movie Trailer of the Week:

Cloud Atlas – In theatres October 26th, 2012

Synopsis: Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future. Each member of the ensemble appears in multiple roles as the stories move through time. The cast includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant

YouTube Video of the Week:

Psy vs. Ghostbusters – Gangnam Busters

I’m really starting to wonder when our obsession with PSY will end… nvm, this guy is pure awesome, and mashing him up with Ray Parker Jr. and the Ghostbusters just works.

YouTube channel you should be subscribed to, of the week:

What’s Trending – Hosted by Shira Lazar
https://www.youtube.com/user/Whatstrending?feature=watch
This is probably my new favourite channel… well, maybe second favourite channel to subscribe to. Shira and the crew at What’s Trending go out and find the top 5 videos on YouTube every day, plus they get in special guest hosts to help out, and normally post interviews afterwards with some of the people featured on their show. It probably helps that Shira is easy on the eyes, at least in my opinion.

News Article of the Week:

Former McOwner sells 20 year old McJordan sauce for $10,000.
http://www.kxan.com/dpps/news/strange/nd-man-sells-mcjordan-barbecue-sauce-for-10k-nd12-jgr_4800468
First off… Really? Someone was willing to shell out $10,000 for 20 year old McDonald’s barbecue sauce? Second, who would want to save a gallon (3.785 Litres for us metric folk) of special sauce that is named after Micheal Jordan. It probably helps that MJ (not Micheal Jackson) is one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Cool software (sort of) of the Week:

https://www.google.com/about/datacenters/inside/streetview/
Google takes us for a virtual tour of one of their data center‘s. Here you can take a streetview like walk though parts of the Lenior, NC. location, and although you don’t get to see everything, there are some interesting things to look for, almost like Easter Eggs. I managed to find the Stormtrooper and R2-D2, the giant Android and got Rick Rolled. There a few more you can find listed here.

Google Android, found this week on streetview.
Google Android in a server cage, found him this week.

Happy 10-11-12 to my American friends. (it’s 11-10-12 here in Canada… and most of the rest of the world.)

Movie Trailer of the Week:

Lincoln – In theatres November 16th, 2012

Synopsis: As the Civil War continues to rage, America’s president struggles with continuing carnage on the battlefield and as he fights with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves. Steven Spielberg is back at the helm for what should be another amazing work, this time getting the Oscar winning trio of Daniel Day-LewisTommy Lee Jones and Sally Field. Add in James Spader and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and you have an all-star cast to tell part of the story of one of the United States’ greatest presidents.

YouTube Video of the Week:
The Guild – Season 6, Episode 1
http://youtu.be/XTd2fCqulKM?hd=1
What is probably one of the best, if not the best, web series out there right now is back for Season 6. Codex has landed a new job as the assistant to the creator of The Game, a World of Warcraft like MMO which is played by Felicia Days character, along with the other members of the Knights of Good. I cannot wait to see what adventures are in store for Vork, Clara, Tink, Bladezz and Zaboo.

Felicia Day, best director of the week.
Felicia Day, one of the cutest Redheads out there.

News Article of the Week:
Tennet trying to cook a squirrel, set apartment complex on fire.
http://www.firstcoastnews.com/rss/article/277709/82/Squirrel-dinner-prep-maybe-sparked-Michigan-fire
I know I should not find this story as amusing as I do… but really, trying to cook a squirrel on your deck? This is one reason I am glad I do not live in an apartment of attached home.

As my friend Micah put it… “Shut up and take my money already!!”. This guy sounds legit, and appears to have the creditably to back it up. Of course, if you have a rake like body type like me, and the metabolism of a garbage disposal (although mine is starting to falter… ), then this might be a bit beyond what you can do.

Best of the Week – 4012

Here we go with with this weeks edition of Best of the Week.

Movie Trailer of the Week:

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning – In theatres November 30th, 2012, Has already been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
http://youtu.be/dcTHIB7GfCM?hd=1
Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren reprise their roles as Luc Deveraux and Andrew Scott, this time leading an army of Unisols without government oversight, weeding out the weak and constantly testing their strongest warriors in bloody, life-and-death combat. One of the most brutal entries of the series to date, it works as a sequel for long time fans, or as a stand-alone film for newcomers to the series.

Zidane’s famous World Cup headbutt imortalized as a statue.

What is probably the most memorable moment of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where Frances star midfielder Zinedine Zidane headbutted Italy‘s Marco Materazzi after being insulted numerous times, now has another permanent monument… besides the countless videos and meme’s on the internet.

Want! The Ariel Atom is an amazing little car, and it’s road legal. It’s famous for being that car that distorted Jeremy Clarkson‘s face, and for the 500 model being the fastest road legal car to go around the Top Gear test track, with a time of 1:15.1.
Here’s the Top Gear review of the car:
