Here we go with with this weeks edition of Best of the Week.
Movie Trailer of the Week:
Cloud Atlas – In theatres October 26th, 2012
Synopsis: Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future. Each member of the ensemble appears in multiple roles as the stories move through time. The cast includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant
YouTube Video of the Week:
Psy vs. Ghostbusters – Gangnam Busters
I’m really starting to wonder when our obsession with PSY will end… nvm, this guy is pure awesome, and mashing him up with Ray Parker Jr. and the Ghostbusters just works.
YouTube channel you should be subscribed to, of the week:
What’s Trending – Hosted by Shira Lazar
https://www.youtube.com/user/Whatstrending?feature=watch
This is probably my new favourite channel… well, maybe second favourite channel to subscribe to. Shira and the crew at What’s Trending go out and find the top 5 videos on YouTube every day, plus they get in special guest hosts to help out, and normally post interviews afterwards with some of the people featured on their show. It probably helps that Shira is easy on the eyes, at least in my opinion.
News Article of the Week:
Former McOwner sells 20 year old McJordan sauce for $10,000.
http://www.kxan.com/dpps/news/strange/nd-man-sells-mcjordan-barbecue-sauce-for-10k-nd12-jgr_4800468
First off… Really? Someone was willing to shell out $10,000 for 20 year old McDonald’s barbecue sauce? Second, who would want to save a gallon (3.785 Litres for us metric folk) of special sauce that is named after Micheal Jordan. It probably helps that MJ (not Micheal Jackson) is one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Cool software (sort of) of the Week:
https://www.google.com/about/datacenters/inside/streetview/
Google takes us for a virtual tour of one of their data center‘s. Here you can take a streetview like walk though parts of the Lenior, NC. location, and although you don’t get to see everything, there are some interesting things to look for, almost like Easter Eggs. I managed to find the Stormtrooper and R2-D2, the giant Android and got Rick Rolled. There a few more you can find listed here.
As always, I’m still open to suggestions for other categories, and for nominations to get included on the list. You can let me know at: oftheweekATleighcDOTcom
