Here we go with this weeks edition of Best of the Week.

Movie Trailer of the Week: 

Red Dawn – In theatres November 21st, 2012

Synopsis: A group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers. Sounds simple enough, and nice to see they didn’t do an exact copy of the original 1984 film of the same name. This time they pair up Chris Hemsworth, who also played Thor, with a bunch of people you have probably never heard of. It looks like a decent amount of action, paired up with some good special effects.

I am not a fan of the real series and I’m a fan of good parodies. What’s Trending has teamed up with some of the wittiest YouTube celebrities to put together this cute little ditty. The short stars Grace Helbig as Bella and Taryn Southern as Rosalie and 2 guys that I don’t know of, and is based upon another YouTube webseries, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

Remember how I mentioned Grace Helbig before, well, this is her channel. She puts out new videos every weekday, and they are downright amusing, sometimes helpful, and always good for a laugh.

Having never lived there, and only driven through 1 time, I can’t say I totally agree with this statement… but on the other hand, I was born in Kingston, so every other city/town/village in Ontario just doesn’t measure up. Recently Mr. Colbert adjusted his original claim, and now the rectum extends to Winnipeg, MB.

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning – In theatres November 30th, 2012, Has already been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren reprise their roles as Luc Deveraux and Andrew Scott, this time leading an army of Unisols without government oversight, weeding out the weak and constantly testing their strongest warriors in bloody, life-and-death combat. One of the most brutal entries of the series to date, it works as a sequel for long time fans, or as a stand-alone film for newcomers to the series.

Chase plane extended view of Space Shuttle Endeavour‘s flight over southern California

Endeavour was the last shuttle to be transported to it’s new permanent home, the California Science Centre in Los Angeles, CA. It was transported across the US about Shuttle Carrier Aircraft No. 905, a modified Boeing 747. This is video taken from one, if not both of the chase planes, and includes numerous famous sights in the LA area and a few fly pasts at LAX before finally touching down.

What is probably the most memorable moment of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where Frances star midfielder Zinedine Zidane headbutted Italy‘s Marco Materazzi after being insulted numerous times, now has another permanent monument… besides the countless videos and meme’s on the internet.

Want! The Ariel Atom is an amazing little car, and it’s road legal. It’s famous for being that car that distorted Jeremy Clarkson‘s face, and for the 500 model being the fastest road legal car to go around the Top Gear test track, with a time of 1:15.1.

My Tips, Tech

My crazy ideas – or – Am I just nuts?

[singlepic id=10 w=320 h=240 float=left] So, I have been struck with this crazy idea to setup my own online channel dedicated to technology in general, and of course get a corresponding website. This idea came to me after watching some recent episodes of commandN.tv, one of the online projects that Amber MacArthur does, not that I don’t like commandN, but I feel there are other areas that could use some coverage. Now, I’m a big fan of Linux, being a Fedora/RedHat user for the past 13 years, though I will openly admit to keeping a Windows machine for gaming (Blizzard, please port your games to Linux… please).

I’ve already come up with a cool name (This space removed to protect my wacky idea), but I’ve already found hurdle number 1… someone has the domain I want. I will also need to work with my current host, or look for a new one that will offer unlimited bandwidth, unlimited traffic, email, and (hopefully) cheap domain registration.I will probably also need to look into getting some decent A/V gear, although I’m sure I could get some decent video with my Canon PowerShot ELPH 300HS, it probably won’t suffice for the audio. I will also need to get some other people to get involved in the project, and I have a few people in mind, who I think will get on board.

Well, I guess to get this crazy idea going, I’ll need to draw up a plan, present it to a few people, and then see if we can make it happen.. and then to free up some time to work on it.
